Turns out Twitter is used to announce good news, too. Ivanka the daughter of real estate mogul Donald Trump, got engaged to newspaper publisher, Jared Kushner, and announced it on the social networking site.
"I got engaged last night," Ivanka Tweeted. "Truly the happiest day of my life!!!"
Good for you Ivanka & thanks. Thanks for restoring my hope in the social media medium. Finally some positive news that makes headlines. Congrats to the happy couple.
Michael Jackson's memorial service isn't slated to begin until Tuesday at the Staples Center, but its garnering enough media attention to make it the hottest ticket in MANY towns.
It is expected that over 1 billion people will be watching the event on television. Over 1.6 million people registered to enter the drawing for the event, hoping to be among 8,750 lucky fans chosen at random by a computer to receive tickets. In fact, tickets are in such demand, they were being sold on e-Bay for $10,000!! Fortunately, those ticket offers were removed from Craigslist and e-Bay.
Don't be fooled!! Tickets are void without the golden wristband, which accompanies it.
No tickets?? Stay home, as told by Los Angeles police department, as a massive horde of ticket less fans and look-a-likes are expected to head down at the Staples Center, anyway.
Hopefully, once the King of Pop is laid to rest, all this hoopla comes to an end. I find it despicable that some are attempting to benefit off of this man's death. Anyways, in the event that you are among the millions without a ticket, watch the events from the comfort of your own home. I guarantee that will probably be the wisest investment you would make in your own sanity. RIP Michael Joseph Jackson.
Given the the significance of The 2009 BET Awards, many wondered about the absence of Chris Brown. After all, he emulated Michael's moves, his fashion, and his sound.
There are reports from various online sites such as anchorsnews.com, that Chris' performance did not sit well with Al Sharpton, nor Jay-Z. Jay-z purportedly threatened that neither he nor Beyonce would perform, if Chris performed. Talk about the alpha male! If true,we now know who wears the pants in this relationship.
Man talk about kicking someone when they are down. So what if Chris was convicted of assault. He has since admitted his guilt and are now facing the consequences. We are all humans, superstar status or not--and it is our nature to make mistakes. While I love Jay-Z to death, he too, has made bad choices in the past. He's a self proclaimed former drug dealer... and even he has turned his life around.
If there was anything that Chris Brown's presence would have taught us is a lesson in forgiveness, redemption and togetherness, a recurring theme in Michael's music.
They moon walked, wore gloves, and even wore tight pants in honor of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The 2009 BET Awards Tribute show featured stars from virtually every realm of the entertainment, from Lebron James to Lil Wayne.
Tributes were given in a wide variety of musical genres: Beyonce's renditon of "Ave Maria" to Jay Z performance of his single "Death Of Auto-Tune".
Perhaps the humbling part of the show, was the Janet Jackson's emotional, yet unexpected appearance. A tearful Janet stated, "My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful," a tearful Janet tells the audience."
"To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family and he will forever live in our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself thank you for your love and support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much." The effect of Janet's speech was profound, yet visible. You could see grown men crying, during the event.
Legendary Singer Michael Jackson whose career has reached the highest of highs, and lowest lows, has died at age 50, reportedly due to cardiac arrest.
According to TMZ.com, the legendary singer was taken to the hospital earlier today, after aides frantically called 911 upon finding the singer unconcious. Upon arrival of the paramedics,Jackson had no pulse. Michael died within a few hours.
Jackson, the 7th of the Jackson children, became a musical prodigy at the age of 11 as a member of the Jackson five. His career spanned four decades, a virtually unattainable task in the world of music, but it wasn't without controversy. Allegations of child molestation, bad parenting skills, his addiction to plastic surgery, all marred his career and public image. Prior to his death, Jackson had been working on a comeback tour.
Regardless of any one's personal feelings towards the childlike king...of pop, we must give props where they are due. Michael Jackson's impact on popular culture has yet to be replicated. His music transcended race, color, creed and even class. Michael defied characterization. Only at a Micheal concert would you see the unification of people through there love of music. He truly left an indellible mark on musical culture...around the world. May the king of pop rest in peace. Your hit said it best, "You are not alone", you are with angels now.
