NY Baby Dies after falling in Day Care Mop Bucket

Authorities are investigating the death of a Queens baby on Monday, as a result of a headfirst fall into a 7 gallon mop bucket, at an at home daycare.

Authorities responded to the call of an unconscious child. The NY Daily News reports that James Farrior, who would have turned 1 next month, was declared dead at Jamaica Hospital.

Police say 28-year-old Krystal Khan regulary baby sat, two neighborhood kids and two of her own,in a casual but sanctioned setting.

Khan states that she stepped out of her living room briefly, and returned only to find the child in the bucket.

This is a tragic accident that will affect all those involved for years to come. The owner, has to live with the fact that she played a role in this innocent child's death. It was a mistake, a mistake to leave a toddler alone--even for just a minute. We all mistakes, but it is a mistake which proved fatal, and there is no amount of apologies, money, that could rectify the situation. A family is now without a child in one day... and the domino effect continues. I have nothing against home Daycares, but as a mother of two, I have paid some pretty pennies needed to send them both to childcare facilities because in my opinion, there rules are more stringent and expecations for workers end to be higher.Even if it does mean sacrificing my pastime of shopping. My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved. What a tragedy.
