Who will replace Paula: Bye Paula, Hello J-Lo??

Amidst the public breakup of Paula and American Idol, rumors have been running rampant of possible replacement. Every one is a possibility: from Posh Spice to J-Lo.

Apparently only Paula has seemed to have lost her mind in Hollywood. Rejecting a $10 million contract extension. Is she insane? Some people will not even see that amount of money in their lifetime, but it was too little for her? Oh yeah, did I mention her asking price was $12 million? Not only is she insane, but not mathematically inclined either because she went from possible earnings to 0. Oh perhaps she's been living in Hollywood too long, and is unaware the rest of the country is in a recession (LOL). Paula the "nurturer's" critiques were often overly positive, slurred, and irrelevant. For example, what do the hell does some one's outfit have to do with anything if they sang horribly? $12 million, $10 million, who cares!! Most of us would only dream

Reportedly Posh spice could replace Paula. The thought of this seems so boring. I have yet to see a photo of this lady smiling. Which leads me to question what type of personality or flavor she would bring to the show.

According online source mediatakeout.com, Jennifer Lopez aka J-Lo, or most recently Lola, is the process of brokering a deal with Idol producers. Now this would be a match made in heaven. Jennifer has personality, hootspa, and she too would have that maternal figure, and would be able to identify with contestants. And of course, she is a dancer choreographer.

Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest publicly voiced their support of wanting Paula back, but to no avail. I guess its safe to say, Simon doesn't always say, huh?

Who do you think should replace Paula?

Do you wear your Seatbelt during flights?

If not, the emergency landing at Miami International Airport, by Continental flight 128, should have taught us all a lesson. The flight, en route to Houston from Brazil, made an emergency landing early Monday, after it experienced sudden turbulence. Turbulence so unnerving and jolting, it rocked everyone on board.

Of the 179 passengers, 26 were injured, only 4 seriously. Mild damage considering the circumstances. I mean its possible that toddlers being held by parents, people were out of their seats to use the lavatory or some were probably getting some Zs during the lengthy flight. I find the terror that those people faced unfathomable, as there is nothing better to do on a long, quiet, flight other than sleep, and I too, am guilty as charged.

Imagine being jolted up and out of your seat without warning. Most, if not all of the injured however, were people that were not wearing seat belts.

This makes me question why more people don't use their seat belts either in air or on plane. Sure the buckle your seat belt warning only flashes, as the plane is taking off, but shouldn't we have the common sense to know that there is always the possibility that something may go awry (i.e. mother nature). It amazes me to see that even survivor children aboard were being interviewed, with their parents right there, so you know that they were passengers as well. And then we wonder why we have so many governing laws. What do you think?

My Reality Show Addiction Continues:The Real Housewives of Atlanta

Okay I must admit, I am a reality show fanatic, American Idol, Apprentice, America's Got Talent, Real Housewives of Atlanta, Wife Swap, need I go on?? The one that I can't seem to get enough of, however is "The Real Housewives of Atlanta".

The second season premiered last night and it began with a bang. Sheree' argued with her party planner, who felt as though she was infringing upon his professional duties. That dude seemed crazed. What kind of professional would become agitated because his client has an interest in his work?? You'd think that would help make his job easier.

Also, newcomer Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Kandi Burruss,of the former R&B group Escape made her debut on the show. While she seems to be very talented and business savvy, I thought it'd be interesting to see how she would mesh with the other housewives, given their history.

I felt that way until I viewed this:

Apparently, their is trouble brewing between Kandi and Nene(who happens to be my favorite), even off the camera. The two seem to have the most in common: they are both sassy, independent minded, and do not back down; So naturally, they would but heads.

Well, if this debut of "housewives" is indicative of this season, then it sure to be a season of drama! Oh and to all the overly conservatives labeling the show as "ghetto". Please. It's a form of entertainment!!!

Tanning does a body good, or does it?????

Listen up tanning junkies, is just a much a carcinogen as smoking, and is as lethal as arsenic, this according to international cancer experts.

They now officially consider tanning's ultraviolet rays among the top cancer causing risks.

Yikes!!

The question is will tanning enthusiasts take heed to the warning. Melanoma has traditionally been more prevalent in older people, but its increasingly being diagnosed in young women in their 20's. In part because they make it an ongoing routine. Hey, if its another thing that tanning has with cigarettes, is its addictive nature.

This can't be a good sign for owners of tanning salons. I know that small business owners are already taking a killing during this econonmic downturn.

Michael Vick's Woes continue: Strip Club Rumors

So we all know by now that Michael Vick has done his time for his role in the doggy dog way of treating animals right? Vick, now been campaigning to get reinstated by the NFL, is now the subject of strip club rumors, and is vehemently denying them.

According to ybf.com (aka Young,Black & Famous), Vick & basketball player Allen Iverson visited the Atantis Club in Virginia Beach on Monday. Vick denies the story stating that he was in Tampa, Fl touring a facility.

Neither the story, nor the sighting were confirmed but published in many media outlets.

I hope for Vick's sake that he is being truthful, as he is in the process of restoring his image. But for Christ sakes, so what if he went to gentlemen's club? Who cares if he went to see dancers "shake what their mama gave them? It's his money, not ours. Oh I forgot, he claimed to be broke. Oh well. Not that I think it is the right thing do. But we should understand that the guy was just released from jail. Oh my bad, he has a fiance doesn't he? Perhaps she is aware and okays it. I now a lot of couples whose significant other would okay them going to a bar, it is a source of entertainment, isn't it. Much like sports, concerts etc.

My point is what he does personally should not have an impact on his profession, unless it hurts other people...even animals.

What do you guys think?

Video Flick:Michael vs Michael

Simply amazing use of technology. Think what you will of MJ, but the one thing that remained consistent throughout his career was his love and passion for music. This too is evident in the video.

Mariah Carey: Are fans not Obsessed with her New Single?

When you're edged out by Hannah Montanna, there is a problem Mariah Carey's new single Obsessed debuted last week at No. 11 on the Billboard Chart.

This week, the singer dropped to a paltry #20 on the charts.

I saw the video during its America's Got Talent debut. The song is okay, the beat catchy, but it would have helped to have a real guy as the obsessor, not a cross-dressing Mariah! This would have given more realism to the video and suspend my disbelief.

What I miss most, as an avid Mariah fan, are the soulful emotional yet powerful ballads that Mariah I know can blow. This song and her most alot of her most recent songs have been the antithesis of this and "Obsessed" is no different.

Is it an effort to keep her music & image young and hip? Who knows. But Mariah I or based on rankings it would be safe to say...We want you back!!!

Cop who arrested Henry Louis Gates: "I'm No Racist"

Just when you think this bizarre situation involving Sgt. James Crowley and Henry Louis Gates, would blow over, it continues. The charges against Crowley were dropped, he demands and apology for which Crowley refuses.....end of story right? Crowley in his five minutes fame, has been giving interviews on his take of the situation. He refuses to apologize for his actions, after all he was simply doing his job right? His reason? He is not racist, he once gave mouth to mouth resuscitation to pro basketball legend, Reggie Lewis when he collapsed in 1993.

Is that all he could come up with to support his case? I mean if I were a teacher, and a racist at that and one of my students of another race, needed mouth to mouth resuscitation, I would do it, simply because it is a part of my job. Or my jobs would be at risk. Seriously, a better argument could have been that his favorite entertainer is black, for Christ sakes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the situation was all his fault. And I'm not going to join the "It was racial profiling band wagon," because it is clear that Henry Louis Gates' status got to his head, also. Taunts of "You don't know who you're messing with," would aggravate the heck out of anybody, black, white, or blue. Had he just shut his mouth and complied with the law enforcement officer, things might have ended on a peaceful note. But then again maybe we needed this incident to initiate talks of race relations.

Breaking his Silence:Chris Brown's Apology to the public

Genuine and heartfelt or disingenuous? That's for you to decide.

Harvard Professor Arrested Outside his Own Home

This must be the safest neighborhood in America. Distinguished Harvard professor, Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was arrested when a cop mistook him for a burglar.

Reportedly, Gates had just returned from a trip to China, only to be welcomed by a badly damaged front door. To circumvent this and gain entry into his home, he and his cab driver tried to get in through the back door. A white neighbor saw them and called the police.

Gates, who heads Harvard's W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African-American Research, showed the Sgt. James Crowley, the attending officer his driver's license and Harvard identification, only to be handcuffed and taken to jail. Crowley's defense? Gates "exhibited loud and tumultuous behavior", in spite of his warnings to calm down. Crowley apparently did not recognize Gates, despite his fame. Throughout the incident Gates continued his verbal tirade against Crowley, among them: "You don't know who you're messing with,"Ya, I'll speak to your momma outside", according to Crowley.

Gates' & his Harvard colleagues call this a case of racial profiling.

This story brings about many issues. Like seriously, are there no crimes in that area of Boston that someone can be arrested for being loud and possibly arrogant? Has the crime rate in Boston decreased so dramatically? I find it interesting that there is hardly any mention of the cab driver. He must have calmly did what he was told to do with no problems. I guess it is true money and class stature affects your personality.

On the bright side, Gates should be pleased with the safety measures taken in the community he lives in. The fact that he had a neighbor, who felt the community was at risk, phoned police. I mean that's what and opulent lifestyle pays for right? Safety. In some lower class neighborhoods, you can't get people to even converse with the police for the fear of "selling out".

What are your thoughts?

Smoking the most expensive Habit forming Hobby

Yes, its true, smoking can be the most expensive habit forming hobby, just ask New Hampshire resident Josh Muszynski.

Josh reportedly stopped by a gas station to buy a pack of cigarettes, only to be charged 23 quadrillion dollars on his debit card. At the risk of missing zeros, I won't even type in the numerical value.

It turns out Muszynski had to spend two hours on the phone with his bank, Bank of America correct the error & his $15.00 overdraft fee.

I am at lost for words, on this one. He must have surely been in a hurry to grab a smoke because you usually prompted to check over the amount charged, before you enter your pin. Smoking is bad.......Comments anyone???

Fla Man sues surgical center over denial of hair transplant

A South Florida man is suing a Broward hair transplant surgeon on grounds that they denied him a hair transplant because he is HIV.

28 year old Diego Del Rio suit argues that Dr. Brett Bolton, of the Age Defying Surgical Center, refused him treatment after an initial consult and examination had been completed, and after he revealed his condition. Del Rio says he told Bolton he was HIV positive.

He says a "staffing medical coordinator" later told him over the phone that the office would not treat him.

Del Rio is suing for $15,000 or more in damages and compared his treatment from the center to being "belittled and disrespected" like he was by Bolton and his staff.

I just don't get the merit of this lawsuit. We live in America, in which you can go to virtually any doctor, based on your condition (unless you're covered by an HMO of course). This guy rather than going to another doctor that would make him look youthful again, prefers to sue? Certainly, he could find another doctor that would be willing to give him care, if he invested the same energy being expended into placing the suit, into his own well-being. I would question whether or not his intent is even genuine. I understand that HIV patients should not be discriminated against just like anyone else, but what if the procedure puts the surgeon or his other patients at risk? The surgeon not only has an obligation to the patient treated but to other patients as well. I say hats off to health care providers that treat HIV patients, as I have personally known a dentist that did, and I know personally, that that wouldn't have sit well with his other patients.

Personally, I think this doctor should have the right to refuse this patient if they are not prepared for the risk because it its not like this procedure is a necessary procedure, its cosmetic. What do you think?

New Craze: Tweeting Through live and unpleasurable Events

Perez Hilton claimed he was assaulted by a member of the Black Eyed Peas, 26 year old Amanda Dooling, aka "Traveling Anna" provided details of a robbery she witnessed...Their medium of choice? Twitter!!! Both twitted, describing the events of thier ordeals.

Perez sent outpouring of tweets back in June about the alleged attack. "I am in shock", he wrote. "I need police ASAP. I was assaulted by Will.i.am and one of his security guards."

Dooling, a producer for a talk show website, tweeted her way through the robbery of her bank. "My bank was just held up - with me in it" she wrote. She was at the HSBC on 34th Street and 8th Avenue when the hold up took place at 9:00 AM, yesterday morning. Her barrage of tweets chronicled the events that unfolding, including her discovery that of her missing trackball, which disabled her ability to place calls. Her updates over the course of the action included: "I'm locked in the bank still ... police just arrived ... they wont let us leave the bank ... i didnt even notice and he was two people in front of me ... can we GO?!"

Yes I know we are in an age of technology, and no I am not against technology, as I believe it is a necessary evil. It develops and advances society, but these stories also show that as culture we are so over taken by it, that we do away with our ability to think and even react in our best interests. In Perez's case, aside from the fact he yearns attention, couldn't he have just called 911 himself? Heaven forbade he was really getting pummeled. Amanda Dooling, while her defense could very well be "I couldn't make any outbound calls", never bothered to tweet that she needed the police, or instructed someone to call the police, but found virtually everything else to tweet about. Moreover, she could never make a credible witness, as she was much to busy with posting updates, to be aware of what was going on around her.

Tweeting, yes is a fun hobby...but becomes unnecessary in the case of emergencies.

SC Funeral home that cut the legs of a corpse, closed by Judge

A South Carolina judge ordered the closing of Cave Funeral Home, after owner Michael Cave admitted a worker cut off the legs of a corpse, so it would fit in its casket.

The ruling upheld last month's decision by the state Funeral Board to revoke the license of the funeral home.

In administrative court, Cave admitted that his funeral home cut the legs off 6-foot-7 James Hines five years ago and failed to tell his family. His reasoning? He didn't want the grieving relatives "to suffer more".

A fired employee notified the family of the misdeed about a year ago.

WTF? He did not notify the family of the dead, because he didn't want them "to suffer more". Talk about mistreating the dead. This goes to show that there is such a thing as karma. That former employee truly exacted revenge on their former employment. What could he/she possibly have gotten fired for, when the company funeral home engaged in offensive and disrespectful behavior? Surely the company itself wasn't living up to the ethical codes which govern their business, so why should the employees?

And to think, that family paid probably paid out the wazzoo for that casket because many funeral homes tend to upsell their items. They would have probably been better off purchasing thier own casket from separate distributor...at least the body would have fully been laid to rest in piece.

Not Again!! Police accuse wife in Boxer Arturo Gatti's Death

If true, this could be another case of a young damsel being distressed. The 23 year old wife of former junior welter weight boxing champion Arturo Gatti has been detained by Brazilian authorities, under the suspicion that she murdered him.

The 37 year old Gatti, was found dead on Saturday, in his hotel room, while on his second honeymoon with Brazilian wife Amanda, and their 10 month old baby. He was reportedly strangled with the strap of a purse, which was found on the scene.

Amanda Rodrigues was taken into custody, police say, due to inconsistencies in her story during interrogation. They say Rodrigues, could not explain how she spent nearly 10 hours inside the residence without noticing that Gatti was already dead. She told them that she had a fight with Gatti, who was in a drunken rage on Friday night after dinner. He pushed her to the ground during their altercation.

Police suspect that Amanda Rodrigues, killed her husband by strangling him with her purse.

Say it ain't so, how could this young lady who looks to weigh no more than 110 pounds carry out such a plot agains a boxer who have fended off some of the toughest contenders in the industry? One might suspect that she used his drunken state as a weakness. If this isn't a reason to stay away drinking, I don't know what is.

I have always thought that age is only a number but given the these two high profile cases, the first being Steve McNair, I am beginning question this belief. As both these relationships have the younger women/older men dynamics. They haven't occured in vain though. What we do get from both tragedies is you must get to know who you are involved with. I feel badly for thier child, because even if the mom is cleared of charges, it's mom will always have the negative stigma attached of being "money hungry. May Gatti rest in peace.

Orlando couple "punked" into trashing hotel room

It is a real life case of being punked, minus Ashton Kutcher. Police say that an Orlando couple caused about $5000 in damages in their hotel room, after being tricked into thinking they were in danger.

Reportedly, someone called the room, pretending to be a front desk agent for the Hilton Garden Inn, and told the wife that there was a gas leak in there room. Heeding directions from the impostor, the wife instructed her husband to:smash out the window of the room, break a wall mirror and use a lamp to punch a hole through the wall, in an attempt to quickly escape. The last step they were supposed to take, throwing out a mattress out the 2nd floor window and jump to safety, was intervened, when a manager, in response to noise complaint, arrived to the room.

Neither the police nor the hotel, have filed any charges against the family.

All I have to say is how gullible can people be, that someone has to call their room, to tell them there is a gas leak?? I mean, I don't know much about gases, and I am far from a scientist, but isn't there an odd smell released? Perhaps they are smell impaired. Wy didn't they just exit out of the front door?? Guess that's a question that I'd have to ask the perpetrator, as they seemed to have had more brains in this situation. On a bright note, in the future, if ever I want to stay at hotel that would be forgiving of my 2 year old's knack for breaking remotes, the Hilton Garden Inn, is it!!

Family of illegal immigrant sues Florida Hospital for deporting patient to Native country

The family of an illegal immigrant is suing Martin Memorial Hospital in South Florida. They accuse the hospital of deporting 37 year old Luis Alberto Jimenez, back to his native Guatemala because he couldn't pay his hospital bills.

Jimenez's family contends that back in 2003, the hospital repatriated the brain-dead illegal, back to Guatemala, unknowingly to them, after he racked up more than 2 million dollars in medical bills. The hospital, they argue, should have provided long-term rehab care to him, because no other rehab clinic would take him without insurance. Relatives say he won't be able to get sufficient care in Guatemala.

The hospital lawyers say that Jimenez wanted to return to his country.

Jimenez was the was struck by a drunk driver in 2000, which left him wheelchair-bound.

Boy this is one complexe case. On one hand I feel badly for the disabled gentleman because he as a human being just like me or you & should get care, but at what cost???!!!! It is situations like this that are causing hospitals to go broke. Which could mean that even me: the law abiding, tax paying, citizen would not have access to health care. Ahhhhh!! Why should this illegal not have to pay for care when other hard working American families have to pay for the care of their loved ones due to not meeting income requirements etc.??!! Being an illegal , but as an illegal that's the chance that you take, you are not entitled to the rights of that country. Its been six years already since his return, surely the country of Guatemala, as inept as their health care system may be, can provide the quality of care needed to maintain his quality of life. And what if the accident happened in his hometown? Surely his medical care would have sufficed then. These type of cases are getting more and more bizarre and complex. I guess we'll have to wait for the outcome of the case...stay tuned.

Police Confirm ex-Football Star's Death: Girlfriend Shot Him, Then Herself

Police confirm that Football great, Steve McNair's 20 year old girlfriend Saheel Kazemi, shot him before killing herself.

Reports state that things which had seemed to be going well for Kazemi, quickly went downhill. Growing debts due to a leaving roomate and car payments among the list. Compounding matters was the fact that she saw signs that McNair was having another relationship. According to Tennesean.com, Kazemi had become very distraught, and told friends and that her life was all messed up and she "was going to end it all"

What a tragic, end for both. She certainly could have and probably should have ended it all...in a less gory manner. Turn the cars back to bank through which she had the loan, and get a quick sale her home. Or, she could have foreclosed her home like the rest of America, and she would have had a fresh start.

What I want to know is how could a girlfriend have seen signs of one's gigolo habits, but a wife couldn't?? If nothing else this story teaches us all as women, that we should not feel to comfortable in our living situations, such that we are unaware of whats going on in our husbands lives. Yes, trust your husbands. But be mindful of his affairs business and personal. It's okay to question your significant other about an unrecognizable number, you may have seen on your caller id. Communication is key, and as women we need to stand up and become more involved in our mate's everyday lives, and just show some interest. Otherwwise, who knows. The same affairs that you have been evading may someday be your very own.

Citizen's Insurance Rising Rates Continue

Bad News for customers of Citizen's Property Insurance Corp, roughly 1 million throughout the state of Florida, to be exact. Citizens is set to statewide 10%increase on premiums effective January 1st.

Whether you live on the coastline or inland, your rates are scheduled to increase. The board did not vote on a new rate plan that would set rates, based on risk. TBO.com reports that some 80,000 customers would be eligible for a decrease in premiums.

This rate increase was approved by Florida lawmakers and Governor Crist in an effort to cover projected claims and other expenses.

Ouch! Somewhere out there there are you know there are some State Farm officials that are extremely repulsed. They rate increase request was nixed, though they had the very same reasoning. Personally, I find it so unfair that the rates are applied to all when there is such vast disparity on risk factors. How fair is it that someone who lives inland has the same increase assessed as someone who lives on a coastline??!! Hell, their house would quicker wash away, or float away, before mines. Sure, its been about three years since they've had a rate increase, but you and I both know that Citizen is a last resort insurance for many, and doesn't come cheaply. Citizens Insureds Farm insureds brace yourselves. No not for the next hurricane season, but for the premium hike.

Countdown to Michael Jackson Memorial Madness

Michael Jackson's memorial service isn't slated to begin until Tuesday at the Staples Center, but its garnering enough media attention to make it the hottest ticket in MANY towns.

It is expected that over 1 billion people will be watching the event on television. Over 1.6 million people registered to enter the drawing for the event, hoping to be among 8,750 lucky fans chosen at random by a computer to receive tickets. In fact, tickets are in such demand, they were being sold on e-Bay for $10,000!! Fortunately, those ticket offers were removed from Craigslist and e-Bay.

Don't be fooled!! Tickets are void without the golden wristband, which accompanies it.

No tickets?? Stay home, as told by Los Angeles police department, as a massive horde of ticket less fans and look-a-likes are expected to head down at the Staples Center, anyway.

Hopefully, once the King of Pop is laid to rest, all this hoopla comes to an end. I find it despicable that some are attempting to benefit off of this man's death. Anyways, in the event that you are among the millions without a ticket, watch the events from the comfort of your own home. I guarantee that will probably be the wisest investment you would make in your own sanity. RIP Michael Joseph Jackson.

Monorail Crash at Disney leaves 1 Dead

Disney, which is often referred to as "the Wonderful World of Disney" wasn't so wonderful this weekend. The monorail transit system at Disney, which shuttles thousands of visitors around the resort daily had 1st fatality in 38 years. Two monorails collided around 2 am Sunday at the Magic Kingdom section of the resort.

Emergency officials said that the collision left one driver, 21 year old Austin Wuennenberg a Stetson University student dead. Five guests and two employees were also on the trains, but were uninjured, as was the other driver.

Disney officials say that such accidents are rare.

OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) is looking into the incident, which could take up to six months to complete.

How sad. A young life tragically taken. Sounds to me that he may have had to much on his plate. His schooling, studies, and still driving at 2 am in the morning. We can all relate in some way or the other, those of us who have to work hard (literally) to achieve our dreams. Condolences to Austin's family.

I may agree that the number of people that visit Disney far outweighs the number of accidents that occur, saying that accidents are "rare" might be a stretch. There are accidents that occur that the public is unaware of because Disney officials generally keep that information under wrap. The monorail has been closed indefinitely, pending OSHA's investigation. So if you are headed to Disney anytime soon, be sure to use other methods of Disney transport. There are the buses, boats, and ferry boat.

The Death of yet another Legend: Football great Steve McNair

And the notable deaths of 2009 continues... The death of former NFL star Steve McNair, is a profound loss to the NFL community. A four-time Pro Bowl selection, McNair who was married with four children, was found Saturday with multiple gunshot wounds on a sofa,in a Nashville condominium community. Cops hint that he was murdered my his girlfriend, who then took her own life.

Reportedly, McNair, had been dating 20 year old Sahel Kazemi for only a few months, after the two hit it off at a Dave & Buster's restaurant, where she worked as a waitress. Neighbors told of often seeing McNair visiting her. And according to ex-boyfriend Keith Norfleet, McNair has since bought her a 2007 black Cadillac Escalade. About the relationship, Norfleet has told The TENNESSEAN, "He was making her believe they were going to be together, and everything would be perfect.”

Kazemi was found dead a few feet away from McNair, with single shot wound to the head. A pistol was found her body.

Two young lives cut short, because of cheating and infidelity, on both their parts. How senseless. I don't know how credible the ex-boyfriend is either, I'd take whatever he says with a grain of salt. However, he does add another perspective to the situation. My heart goes out to McNair's wife and children as they are truly are the innocent victims, in this tangled web of lies and deceit.

Final Rehearsal: An energetic Michael Jackson, showing why he is "The King of Pop"

No Charges filed against former Commissioner Blair

Okay, don't bother calling the psychic network for a reading...this website exists, free of charge. As I predicted earlier, there was probably more than meets the eye, when it came to Brian Blair's domestic case. Apparently the prosecutors agreed, dropping the child abuse charges that were levied against Blair.

Tbo.com reports that prosecutors came to the conclusion that Blair's son was the aggressor in the scuffle, even though he may have thrown the first punch. Apparently, Blair argued with both his sons, age 17 and 14, for breaking their curfew. If worse came to worse, Blair could have argued that he was simply disciplining his kids, but some how the situation spun out of control.State law allows parents to use corporal punishment to discipline kids, within reason.

Call me Miss Cleo.. Oh yeah I forgot she was a fraud...um a psychic or just consider me an individual with some good old common sense, but there were just some facts surrounding the case that I found questionable, on the part of the sons. For one, why were those children up 4 am in the morning???!! Enough said. Parenting is very difficult, especially parenting teenagers. They resemble adults physically, but cognitively are unable to make the decisions that an adult would. However, in their minds they can. Which is why they tend not to listen.

Anyway, I hope that this family can heal, together as most families do during times of crises. And I hope the boys realize that rules are put in place for their own safety and/or well being. Certainly, if they can't abide by the rules enforced at home, how will be abide by the laws of the land? Well, regardless of what you may think of Blair professionally, this is a small victory for parents everywhere!

Park Fountain accidentally hooked up to reclaim water

Talk about a water mix-up. On Wednesday morning, city workers discovered that a water fountain in Lakewood Terrace Park had been mistakenly hooked up to a reclaimed water line. The reclaimed water line was connected on Monday, by a city utility worker.

Despite the gross mix up, St Pete officials don't believe that anyone was harmed, citing the fact that,"The city's reclaimed water is disinfected. For months now we've had very favorable readings, very low bacteria, in our reclaimed water" said St. Petersburg's Internal Services Administrator, Mike Connors. Well that should prevent the onset of any panic ... or maybe not.

And to think the our local government have been been steadily cutting jobs. This would be one argument for the cessation of job cuts, as more oversight is necessary. People's health could potentially be at risk.

Man strips naked and disrupts US Airways Flight

A passenger who stripped naked while aboard US Airways jet bound for Los Angeles, and caused the plane's diversion, will be arraigned, today. He may be ordered to undergo psychological evaluation.

Keith Wright, 50, was arrested by federal officials for interfering with flight crew members when it landed Tuesday night in Albuquerque.

Wright, a navy veteran, reportedly disrobed his clothing during the flight and refused to put them back on, forcing flight attendants to cover him with blankets.

According to the NY Daily News, Wright's family said he suffers from a bipolar disorder.

The good news? You didn't think there would be any given the circumstances, huh? All the research I've done indicates that flight disruptions are rare, consistent, but rare, given the number of flights that occur daily. Aah...we can all breathe a sigh of relief. While mental illness is such a complex topic, Wright's family needs to take a more assertive role in making sure that he takes his required medications, because the often mentally ill adults do not realize their illness, and will not take medications when necessary. There is the old saying, "If its not broken, don't fix it". Which is why another loved one has to take charge.

On a lighter note, how do you think the passengers nearby him, felt knowing that someone who is clearly not of sound mind, sat in the midst, and naked at that?? That's creepy stuff!

Cigarette Smoking: An Expensive Habit in Florida

Smokers, get ready to puff away extra monies, in addition to smoke, because starting today, there will be a $1.00 state tax increase on your cigarette purchase.

Currently at 34 cents, the new cigarette tax has increased to $1.34 under the "Protecting Florida's Health Act," which was passed to aid sagging state revenues. Unlike other states, Florida has no local taxes on cigarettes.

Boy, if this isn't a reason kick one's smoking habit, I don't know what is. I mean seriously, you'd think your own health would be reason enough to kick the habit, right? If a pack of cigarettes cost, let's say $5.00, the increase could bring the sale cost to, $6.34. Zoinks! And what if you're a chain smoker, who smokes multiple packs a day? So smokers pick your poison, withdraw from the addictive nicotine, or pay uncle Sam.

Tossed Baby's Teen Mom Plans to sue 3 Government Agencies

The teen mom of a baby tossed from the car on Interstate 275, by her violent ex-boyfriend, plans to sue three government agencies, on the grounds that they did not protect her son.

The Tampa Tribune reports that the 17 year old mom, Jasmine Bedwell, plans to sue Department of Children & Families, Hillsborough Kids Inc. ,and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, citing that the agencies failed to keep Bedwell's ex-boyfriend, Richard McTear Jr., from harming her.

McTear is accused of forcing his way into Bedwell's apartment May 5, beating her and throwing baby Emanuel on a concrete floor, before driving off with him. He then threw the child out of a moving car onto the shoulder of I-275, deputies say.

McTear, who has since been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, kidnapping, felony battery and burglary with battery, has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

WTF!!!??? First of all what is a year old, doing living on her own anyway? Where is her family? So what if the agencies failed to do background checks on this young lady's boyfriend, once she got involved with him. Its not their responsibilty!!Many women in abusive situations, for some arcane reason, tend to continue ties with their abusers anyway. Its one thing for the agencies to empower and educate women in abusive situations, which in my humble opinion is worth millions, its another to tell them who to see, or date. If she's "responsible" enough to have babies, & live on her own, she should be responsible enough to make the correct choices in her life to protect her offspring. Such as recognizing that that she needed to get her child away from McTear. As I've stated before in previous posts, there are some who need government control, and it sounds to me like this young lady fits the bill.

So, I disagree. DCF did not let baby Emmanuel down...his precocious mother did. Second to her baby, her education should have been a priority, both formal and informal. So I ask again, at what costs do you want the government in control of your lives?

BET Awards to Chris Brown: Just Beat It

Given the the significance of The 2009 BET Awards, many wondered about the absence of Chris Brown. After all, he emulated Michael's moves, his fashion, and his sound.

There are reports from various online sites such as anchorsnews.com, that Chris' performance did not sit well with Al Sharpton, nor Jay-Z. Jay-z purportedly threatened that neither he nor Beyonce would perform, if Chris performed. Talk about the alpha male! If true,we now know who wears the pants in this relationship.

Man talk about kicking someone when they are down. So what if Chris was convicted of assault. He has since admitted his guilt and are now facing the consequences. We are all humans, superstar status or not--and it is our nature to make mistakes. While I love Jay-Z to death, he too, has made bad choices in the past. He's a self proclaimed former drug dealer... and even he has turned his life around.

If there was anything that Chris Brown's presence would have taught us is a lesson in forgiveness, redemption and togetherness, a recurring theme in Michael's music.

Buckle Up Florida! New SeatBelt Law takes effect Today

Starting today, you don't have to be speeding to be pulled over. Drivers can now be pulled over for not having their seat belts belt on, as the new Seat belt law is now in effect.

Prior to June 30th, drivers could only be cited for not wearing a seat belt as a secondary offense. The new law, makes not wearing a seat belt a primary traffic offense.

Hillsborough County Deputies are vigorously enforcing OPERATION BELTS OR ELSE. Ticket drivers will be fined $30 per ticket. In addition, the Clerk of the Circuit Court adds extra $71 in fees for a total of $101 in fees.

The NHTSA estimates Florida can expect to save 124 lives each year with the new law and 1,700 people will be spared serious injuries. Estimates also show costs associated with accidents would be reduced by $408 million.

Now, I'm not one for having the government/law controlling one's actions, however, this crackdown can help save lives. Not everyone has the ability to think of consequences of their actions, and make unwise choices simply because its their free will. Therefore the law should step in to help protect those, who obviously can't or won't protect themselves. Driving, much like voting is a privilege, and having said that, people should abide by the rules. So to the defiant, its a choice of click it or ticket. Pick your poison.

Autopsy Results: Mays Death Not Linked to Head Injury

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner announced the results of Billy Mays' autopsy earlier today, and said said that there was no connection between Mays' death and Saturday's bumpy aircraft landing.

Billy had conceded to suffering a blow to the head when the front tires of US Airways Flight 1421 blew upon landing, causing many to speculate that his death was caused by possible head trauma. The results showed no signs of head trauma. However, heart disease was evident in the findings.

Doctors say Mays had died in his sleep.

Desparately Seeking Jesus: Man plows into Church

A 54-year-old Largo man plowed his vehicle into a Largo church over the weekend, in an attempt to kill himself in order to be closer to Jesus, Largo police said.

Phillip Glenn Wagner has been charged with felony criminal mischief to a church and booked into the Pinellas County Jail, where he was put on suicide watch, Lt. Mike Loux said.

According to reports, Wagner rammed his vehicle into Faith United Methodist Church, at 403 First Ave. S.W., causing $10,000 in damage.

This is strange. Would this be a case of someone being a religious zealot? And if he is so much of a Christian as his actions imply, wouldn't suicide be considered a sin? Just thought I'd throw that out there because in no way am I a biblical expert...not yet at least. If anyone knows, holla.

The BET Awards 2009: Michael Jackson's Final Hurrah

They moon walked, wore gloves, and even wore tight pants in honor of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The 2009 BET Awards Tribute show featured stars from virtually every realm of the entertainment, from Lebron James to Lil Wayne.

Tributes were given in a wide variety of musical genres: Beyonce's renditon of "Ave Maria" to Jay Z performance of his single "Death Of Auto-Tune".

Perhaps the humbling part of the show, was the Janet Jackson's emotional, yet unexpected appearance. A tearful Janet stated, "My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful," a tearful Janet tells the audience."

"To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family and he will forever live in our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself thank you for your love and support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much." The effect of Janet's speech was profound, yet visible. You could see grown men crying, during the event.

Billy Mays' Autopsy to be completed Today

The autopsy for television pitchman, Bily Mays' is to be conducted today, and the preliminary results are expected to be released.

Mays, 50, who was found dead on Sunday in his Tampa home, was on the US Airways plane that had the blown out tire upon landing at Tampa International Airport, on Saturday. Mays reported to Fox 13,that things landed on him during the bumpy landing, and even joked that he had a "hard head".

Mays who has taken many households by storm, appeared on numerous infomercials and commercials for many products, like Oxy-Clean and Kaboom.

Tampa police say that it is too soon to link Mays' death to the accident.

Legendary Singer Michael Jackson Dead at 50

Legendary Singer Michael Jackson whose career has reached the highest of highs, and lowest lows, has died at age 50, reportedly due to cardiac arrest.

According to TMZ.com, the legendary singer was taken to the hospital earlier today, after aides frantically called 911 upon finding the singer unconcious. Upon arrival of the paramedics,Jackson had no pulse. Michael died within a few hours.

Jackson, the 7th of the Jackson children, became a musical prodigy at the age of 11 as a member of the Jackson five. His career spanned four decades, a virtually unattainable task in the world of music, but it wasn't without controversy. Allegations of child molestation, bad parenting skills, his addiction to plastic surgery, all marred his career and public image. Prior to his death, Jackson had been working on a comeback tour.

Regardless of any one's personal feelings towards the childlike king...of pop, we must give props where they are due. Michael Jackson's impact on popular culture has yet to be replicated. His music transcended race, color, creed and even class. Michael defied characterization. Only at a Micheal concert would you see the unification of people through there love of music. He truly left an indellible mark on musical culture...around the world. May the king of pop rest in peace. Your hit said it best, "You are not alone", you are with angels now.

Interactive Map Data Finds the South to be a hotspot for HIV

A new data online interactive map, which compiles data on HIV cases by counties, finds that the infection rates are higher in the south, than any other region of the US.

While, the data indicates that the high rates are seen throughout states like Georgia ,South Carolina,Florida, and Virginia; Georgia, has the highest percentage of infection. More than half of the 48 counties with high rates are in Georgia.

The National Minority Quality Forum, created the map, known as the HIV/Aids Atlas, and have created other disease maps in the past. They also analyzed and disaggregated the data.

How ironic as this region is often referred to as the "Dirty South". It is so unsettling to hear of news such as this.We are in the 21st century, we are more knowledgeable about about the disease, risk factors, and prevention. We know more about Aids than those that encountered it back in 1981, when it was first identified in the US and many misconceptions ran rampant, yet until this day, it continues to be an epidemic. What does it say about us as a people??!!

Chris Brown Pleads Guilty

Pop singer Chris Brown, plead guilty Monday, to assaulting felony assault, and was sentenced 5 years probation and 6 months community service.

As part of his "stay out of jail" free card, Brown will have to undo his public persona and humble himself, as he cleans up graffiti or trash along the roadsides.

The two were also ordered to stay away from each other.

I say good for Chris Brown. "Man up" to what you've done, take responsibility and face the repercussions. This is the only way in which redemption begins. Oh and Chris stop citing the things that you've seen in the past, i.e. "step father's abuse towards mom", as the cause of your actions. There is the old adage that reminds us of such "Just because your friend jumps off a bridge, doesn't mean you should too."

I am so glad the two were ordered to stay away from each other as part of the judgement. If only this could be somehow applied to each an every relationship in which domestic violence, exists.. (in my virtual world of course) as abuse in all forms, tends to be a vicious, ongoing cycle. And sometimes it takes an individual from the outside to bring it to the attention to those involved, that they are just not meant to be.

Jon & Kate Disintegrate

Much to the surprise of ...virtually no one, Jon and Kate Gosselin, announced their separation on Monday night's, highly anticipated show. Yes, that was the BIG announcement, that TLC teased us about with many promos.

During the show, both parents stated that everything they did was for the kids. Um mm okay.. if they say so. If it were really about the kids, they would have realized the adverse effects the fame: the publicity, & lack of privacy had on their lives, and perhaps opt out of certain obligations to salvage and mend their relationships. Seriously, how is it possible that people can change so much, that they forgot where they came from, their beliefs, or what they value most?

And the reality TV romance curse continues. Jessica Simpson and Nich Lachey, Hulk and Linda Hogan,Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro too, have all had their relationships crumble since becoming reality TV stars.

I feel sorry for the children,as they are most vulnerable. This precarious position that they now find themselves in can be stressful for them, which is too bad because they didn't sign up for any of this.

Former County Commisioner Released from Jail on Child Abuse Charges

Almost sounds like an oxymoron, huh? You're sworn in to serve the public but is charged with abusing your kids. Former Hillsborough County Commissioner, Brian Blair was released from Orient Road Jail today, a day after allegations that he beat up his two sons.

Brian Blair and wife of 22 years Toni, have two sons, Brett(17) and Bradley (13).

According to police, the fracas occurred around 4 am Sunday. Blair, a former pro wrestling with the World Wrestling Federation, is accused of shoving his elder son, and holding the younger son in a choke hold. However the report indicates that none of the kids were seriously injured.

This is as complex a case as I've seen because there appears to be so many dynamics. For starters he is the father of two teens. This job is perhaps more difficult that his publicly held position. I happen to deal with teenagers on a daily basis in my line of work and I can vouch for the fact some of them can be self absorbed, have challenging personalities and are "no it alls". I am not going to delve into this issue too much, nor am I going to vilify the former commissioner without all the details.

One question that I would ask though, is why were those teenagers up at 4 am in the morning?? Shouldn't have they been asleep. And why would any child infuriate their parents knowing that they were former wrestlers?? Hmmm makes me wonder.... Will post updates as more details are released.

Rihanna set to Testify at Today's Hearing??

The NY daily news reports that Rihanna is finally set to speak up on the alleged beating she received by former boyfriend, and fellow singer, Chris Brown at today's hearing.

Today's interrogation, will be the first time in which she gives the sordid details of the incident, which occurred back in February, as she has remained mum and out of the spotlight since then.

I say good for her!!!Hooray! Stand up for the many women & girls even, many of whom may be fans of hers, and inspire them to speak out against the subject of domestic abuse. Show them that even a star is suceptible to such ordeals, as they are human tool. Even more, teach them that abuse is intolerable. A Greater deed will be done, should she speak out against his deplorable actions. Now that is someone deserves a "superstar" status.

HCSO Deputies Crack Down begins as Piracy looms

On Monday Hillsborough county deputies launched Operation Picture Perfect, which cracks down on movie counterfeiters.

The counterfeiters targeted are those brazen enough to set up shop at local flea markets, on curb sides, or even parking lots, according to TBO.

The bootlegging market has thrived in these economic times, when it seems like every other industry is experiencing losses. That is because for some consumers, the cost in savings, and having the ownership of the movie, far supersedes any issues with poor picture quality/sound in the movies.

The Motion Picture Association of America who has pushed a bill that would make operating recording device inside a movie theater a criminal misdemeanor, reports that the movie industry has lost and continues to lose billions of dollars each year due to piracy.

Mmmm lets see. I do agree that bootlegging is a form of stealing as these counterfeiters are essentially taping the movies without authorization, not only for their own use but for profit. On the other hand, it used to be that going to the movies was one of the cheapest forms of entertainment, but not anymore. It's ridiculous. One night of viewing a movie can cost a couple around $18. Did I say one night, I meant 2 hours of viewing maybe a little over to be exact. Imagine the cost for a family of 4? By the way the stated above price did not include popcorn, drinks, etc. We (consumers) pay heftily for admission to theaters, yet stars are making millions of dollars, regardless of monetary intake and I'm supposed to feel saddened at the industry's loss? Hey we live in a capitalist society, right? Has the movie making industry ever considered lowering the costs for admission to compete with these stealing idiots. Compete with them! This I'm sure would result in increased ticket sales and could compensate, over time for their loses. Or, they could ask the mega rich leading men and women of Hollywood starring in the movies to give "charitable funds" to support their cause. But then again, the rich usually want to get richer, and any talks of a cut in salary would probably not sit well with them...Any thoughts??

By the way has anyone noticed how HCSO deputies have been on a prowl lately? We recenlty heard about,"Operation Indoor Outlaw", and now "Operation Picture Perfect". I wonder what's next??

Tampa Bay Tempretures on the rise

You may want to plan on engaging in indoor acitivities today, or be prepared to face the heat should you step foot outside.A heat advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service, for the Bay Area.

Today's tempreture is forecasted to reach as high as 99 degrees, but feel like 110, due to added humitidy. Tomorrow can get as high as 97 degrees.

Well, I guess my day is pre-planned for me. This sounds like nice weather to sleep in (yawn). Whatever you do, refrain from asking anyone you converse with "How are you feeling?", as it will be pretty obvious.

Holy Smokes!! Hillsborough County had new source supplying energy: Marijuanna

Talk about going green. TECO customers had a different source fueling their energy: weed.

At the county's waste to energy plant on Falkenburg Rd, Hillsborough County deputies burned almost a ton of confiscated marijuana, this morning at 11 am according to spokesman JD Calloway.

Calloway went on to report that the area in which the burning takes place is cordoned off, with access to only law enforcement, and is burned very quickly. Therefore, no one could get high off of the burning. The marijuana was seized between February and July of last year during the county's "Operation Indoor Outlaw".

Deputies say the marijuana, which is contained in 300 boxes, has a street value of $6 million.

All I can say is somewhere out there Bob Marley is turning in his grave. Not to be blunt or anything (no pun intended), but I wonder if the worker/workers that burned the weed got high? I'm not a proponent of weed ,nor am I an opponent, but I have yet to hear of someone dieing of weed overdose, or getting cancer from it. I'm just saying.... What do you guys think??

Jon & Kate Plus Eight : Mystery annoucement to be unveiled on Monday

Calling all reality fanatics: tune in two TLC on Monday. It is reported that Jon and Kate Gosselin, stars of hit show, John & Kate plus 8 are set to make an announcement during the one hour special.

The show, which follows the daily lives of the Gosselin family,is currently one of the highest rated programs on TLC, according to. It focuses on their challenge of raising 8 children-sextuplets and a set of twins.

With the recent rumors of their recent marital discord (ie. John's alleged infedility), It will be interesting to see what the announcement is. Will they stay together and work through their problems for the sake of the children? Or is this a way of getting hype for everyone to tune in to the show show, and still leaving viewers with a cliffhanger? I guess we'll have to see.

AM Best Downgrades State Farm -Florida Rating

When you think of top insurance agencies, Progressive, Allstate,State Farm come to mind ,State Farm of Florida is quickly losing its status among the elite. AM Best rating agency has downgraded it from a B+ to a B.

The top rating agency downgraded State Farm's financial strength to fair, which in turn lowered its credit rating. The rating change was made because of the agency's concern of State Farms inability to pay large claim payouts, in the event of a catastrophe.

In Januaray, State Farm began pulling out of homeowners market in Florida and issued nonrenewals to policyholders. They made an attempt to request a rate increase prior, but was rejected by the state commissioners.

A spokeswoman for the State farm cites the downgrade as ''unfortunate but understandable'' given the insurer's financial condition.

Certainly this should come to know surprise to State Farm, they probably loss half of their business with the loss of homeowners premiums. If you are covered by State Farm, I'd be very worried if I were you, because as long as they are in the hole, it'll be difficult for them to dig themselves out. There only solution is to charge the amount of $$premiums necessary needed to cover any anticipated losses. Hello, this is Florida! There are tons of hurricanes to be had. Translation? Show them the money!!

Digital Switch causes TV outage at Hillsborough County Jails

Add Hillsborough County jails to the list of those unprepared for the digital TV switch. TV for thousands of inmates went blank of Friday as a result of the switch.

The Tampa Tribune reports that manager George Wiehle is working feverishly to restore tv viewing for the inmates, by taking the cheaper route of having converter boxes installed. This cost effective option, is only about $200 compared to getting digital TVs, which would be more expensive.

Neighboring county jails Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, had no problems, as they are connected to cable, which inmates pay for.

I say who cares if non law-abiding citizens are without TV. TV is a privilege, not a right. There are certainly more important issues to worry about. It's bad enough that our taxes pay for prisoner health care, food, housing etc. Thankfully, they are not going about implementing TV service expensively.

150 Children of Ilegals to Sue Obama over Deportation

150 children, from Miami are suing the Obama administration over the deportation of their parents.

The children, all US citizens, argue that their constitutional rights are in violation because they too may have to leave, should their parents be unable to return.

The group, which originally brought the case against the Bush administration, resubmitted the lawsuit in January. It is the contention of the children and Nora Sandigo, head of the non-profit American Fraternity who filed the suit, that the parents entered the US prior to the 1996 immigration changes, which made it difficult to become residents. Hence, they argue, they should not have been affected. The group gathered on Wednesday to discuss the case.

Wow, I'm at loss for words. This is an asinine a case as I've ever heard. First of all, who cares when the parents entered US soil? What is their status?? Obviously illegal. As such the rules of the land should apply. We need consistency in enforcing and applying the laws, in spite of extenuating circumstances. Which leads me to my next point. If the parents are being deported, then the kids should follow, willingly, because they are their caregivers. Otherwise, families will become broken as they live separate lives in two different countries. That is the only plausible solution, and its costs us less tax dollars too. Anyone else in favor???

Add another Title to President Obama: Super Fly Swatter

The Today show airing of the clip of President Obama swatting away a fly during his with CNBC, has created a buzz about his precision.

The pesky fly thwarted President Obama's interview on his plans for financial regulation, and the President swatted and killed it in one sudden movement,on air.

I know, I know, there are more important things to discuss other than President Obama's fly swat, but I'm from an island in which flies and mosquitoes and a plenty, and I know first hand it is very difficult to catch a fly especially, and it takes a lot of skill. Which is why there are so many fly swatting devices on the market.

Anyway, a soft news piece is good for us once in a while, for us to maintain our sanity.

UPDATE: 6:56 NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams reports that members of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) are upset about the President's lack of sensitivity upon killing the fly. WTH??? It's a fly for goodness sakes, you know those disease carrying, skin biting insects. I usually agree with PETA, that all animals should be treated fairly, but this is one time that I have to disagree with them.

Fla Man Charged in Ilegal Dumping of Roomate's Body

Police say that Donald Christopher Richert tossed the body of his live-in lover, into a dumpster at the Volusia County landfill, to support his drug habit.

Michael Bobo whose decomposed remains were found by workers on May 19, had been dead for some time. It is reported that Bobo had hepatitis C and Aids, and had been in failing health.

Allegedly, Richert wrapped Bobo's body in plastic and turned up the air conditioning in their trailer to quell the stench of the body. Authorities say Richert eventually sold Bobo's trailer for $600.

I don't know much about drug use, but judging by the marks on Richert's face in his photo indicates to me that he is a junkie. One question I would ask of Richert is if he truly loved or care for Bobo. Most people would not do their worst enemy, what he did to him, even after death. If Bobo were in terminal phase, why did he not choose the option of living in an assisted living facility? This story puts new meaning to the phrase "crack kills".

Pyscho Son Impersonating Dead Mom Defrauds Government Agencies

This puts new meaning of being a dead-ringer. Thomas Prusik-Parkin of Brooklyn has been impersonating his dead mom for the past 6 years to receive government benefits.

According to authorities, Prusik-Parkin has received $115,000 worth of his mother's Social Security and rent subsidies. Prusik-Parkin not only acted like his mom, but he dressed as her as well, wearing big dresses, wigs, and nails, to carry out his scheme.

It is reported that the whole charade began in 2003, when Prusik-Parkin give the funeral home in charge of his mother's burial, the incorrect social security number. As a result, state agencies were never notified of his mother's death.

Wow, This is theft to the highest degree. He carried through this plot for 6 years? How is that even possible? That would have been a web of lies that he would have had to create. How could there have not been any red flag? Oh I forgot, as a former government you have large caseloads, too many documents to verify, and only 8 hours in a day to do so. I say commit this man for the remainder of his life, as that is insanity to the highest degree. Did he even grieve the death of his mother?? That is probably why he acted this way. I'm sure he doesn't have the means to repay these funds, if he going through the lengths that he did, shows that he was desperate for them in the first place.

Suffering from Sniffling, Sneezing,Sore Throat?? FDA says"Don't Use Viacam!"

The FDA has released a warning the public that the use Ziacam Swabs and Gel, can result in the loss of smell. The products contain the active ingredient Zinc, which has been linked to at least 130 cases, according to the warning.

The reports states that Ziacam never received FDA approval, because it was exempt because it is homeopathic, or minerals and vitamins based. The FDA is now requiring formal testing and approval of the product because of rising safety concerns.

This post should serve as a wake up call for many, because there is a prevailing notion that anything made of natural mineral and vitamins are "safe", and that's not always the case. I myself, have been guilty of such, and have learned the hard way. One has to be careful of the types of vitamins they take, the amounts, and even the mixture or combinations taken, as our biological makeups are different. Too much, a bad combination, or vitamins that are not compatible with your body, can cause health risks.

N. Korea: No Appeal for American Journalists

N. Korea released a report yesterday indicating that the two American journalists held in their custody, Euna Lee an Laura Ling, are guilty of all charges, by their own admission. In the report , according to the AP, the women admitted to illegally entering N.Korea, and were guilty of a "smear campaign" about N. Korean Human Rights. The families of both women, steadily maintain that they did not intend to enter. Both women were sentenced to 12 years labor.

I question the timing in which this information is released. The sentences were levied last week, why is it only now this information is being released? Perhaps its a ploy for higher leverage to the growing N.Korea-America tension.

Tampa Bay Drivers Continue to be Guilty of Road Rage

Have you ever been cursed out or have been yelled at by another driver, while on driving in the bay area? No worries, you are not alone. The bay area was ranked the
11th least-courteous city in the country in terms of road rage, according to a survey given by AutoVantage Car Club.

Miami, the only other florida city, has held the #1 spot, for the past three years, dropped down to number seven.

The survey indicates that Tampa drivers were most likely to engage in texting, and emailing as they drive.Well there is some good news for Tampans. Tampa ranked at only the second least likely the raise fists at other drivers. The first? New York City.

So if you're ever on the road in the when driving play some music, think good thoughts, so that Tampa bay can get increse our rankings and replace (yes, I'm a big dreamer) Portland, Oregon. Or is that too much to ask ?

NY Baby Dies after falling in Day Care Mop Bucket

Authorities are investigating the death of a Queens baby on Monday, as a result of a headfirst fall into a 7 gallon mop bucket, at an at home daycare.

Authorities responded to the call of an unconscious child. The NY Daily News reports that James Farrior, who would have turned 1 next month, was declared dead at Jamaica Hospital.

Police say 28-year-old Krystal Khan regulary baby sat, two neighborhood kids and two of her own,in a casual but sanctioned setting.

Khan states that she stepped out of her living room briefly, and returned only to find the child in the bucket.

This is a tragic accident that will affect all those involved for years to come. The owner, has to live with the fact that she played a role in this innocent child's death. It was a mistake, a mistake to leave a toddler alone--even for just a minute. We all mistakes, but it is a mistake which proved fatal, and there is no amount of apologies, money, that could rectify the situation. A family is now without a child in one day... and the domino effect continues. I have nothing against home Daycares, but as a mother of two, I have paid some pretty pennies needed to send them both to childcare facilities because in my opinion, there rules are more stringent and expecations for workers end to be higher.Even if it does mean sacrificing my pastime of shopping. My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved. What a tragedy.

Man Overboard

A 47 year old Seminole man was rescued after falling overboard the "Carnival Inspiration", near the Sunshine Bridge, early Monday morning.

According the the Tampa Tribune, Larry Miller who was treated for cuts and bruises, was rescued by the captain of a pilot boat. Miller was found clinging to a buoy near the mouth of Tampa Bay.

Carnival Cruise Lines released a statement indicating that Miller fell after trying to get a better look at a pilot boat coming alongside the Carnival Inspiration.

Is it me or does this seem a bit weird and off kilter? Who in the right mind would put forth admiration over their own safety. Jeez!

R&B Star Usher Files for Divorce: Real or Fake?

Usher has reportedly Usher filed for divorce on Friday from Tameka Foster, whom he married in August 2007. While Usher and his camp have vehemently denying reports of a separation, this comes as no surprise to many, as there have been numerous rumors to suggest that the couple have long been experiencing marital woes.

I have to question whether reports are fact or fiction. Usher's upcoming album release is set for October, so it could potentially be a publicity stunt to garner attention and increase album sales. Perhaps, its a move to assist him in the writing processes, an inspiration of sorts. During these economic times is there even a market for sad songs?? We need music that would get our minds off of everyday troubles, and yes relationships is one of them. I would take this information with a grain of salt, until the divorce is finalized and documents can be verified.

The Huffington Post reports that Tameka Foster has retained sports and entertainment family lawyer Randy Kessler to represent her.

Laker Fans Riot in LA!

Riots broke out in streets of LA as revelers gathered to celebrate the Lakers win over the Orlando Magic, Sunday Night.

According to the AP, stores were broken into, goods stolen, bonfires were started, and rocks were pelted at police.

Obviously these "fans" aren't really fans because if they were, one of the most important fundamentals of basketball or any sport of that matter, is sportsmanship. In my opinion, they are not Laker fans but faker fans, as these actions simply tarnish the image of the City of LA and the Lakers.

Latino Explosion!!

Are Latinos on their way to being the majority in the United States? This notion may certainly be in the horizon as have surpassed African Americans as the largest minority, according to CNN News.

According to census statistics, 1 in 4 children born in the U.S. are of Hispanic roots, according to a recent immigration report ,and within 50 years Latinos are projected to compose a quarter of the national population. The face of America is changing, as a result of growing boom.

As a result the 2010, census will be extremely important for all Latinos. Whether you're of Dominican, Puerto Rican, Boriqua, or Morena, legal or illegal, it doesn't matter!! This biggest challenge? Many illegals don't participate for the fear that they may be deported. Little do they know, their information are not shared with other government agencies. Others have because they are monolingual or Spanish only, and some families also lack the resources and knowledge about the importance of census participation. Which is why the Census Bureau has been using Spanish groups and workers to come up with creative ways to get the word out about the 2010 Census.

So why is this census such a big deal? The census determines were funding is allocated for health care, education, housing, employment, among other programs. It determines who gets the money.

At the rate in whic the Latino population is growing, its not implausible to think that the US could become a part of Latin America. All I have to say is "Latinos, Que Pasa??"

Pain at the Pump: Rising Gas Prices

In the midst of this economic downturn, many people are traveling by cars in an effort to offset travel related expenses, but those savings are slowly becoming a thing of the past, as gas prices are steadily rising. According to the AP, the national average for gas is up to $2.67 a gallon of unleaded gas, a 16% increase. In California, prices are at a whopping $3.00 per gallon!

If this trend continues, what will prices be like at the once summer official begins and during the 4th of July weekend, when road trips are plenty?? This thought is mind-boggling. What we are now seeing in California, could become a national trend. This is just convincing me even more to have plenty more "staycations" this summer!

Champions Again! Lakers beat Magic to win Title

It's a wrap guys. The Lakers defeated the Magic in five games, 99-86.This win gives fill Jackson his 10th championship ring and 15 for the LA Lakers. Can you imagine Coach Jackson trying to lift his fingers, each bearing his championship rings?Talk about hard labor.

In any event, the Magic fought a good fight, but the Lakers played smarter. Everyone knows the old adage, "Work smarter, not harder". The Magic continued to struggle with their outside shots (as they did in game 4), and failed to build an the inside game. The Magic shot a dismal 8-27 from beyond the arc. Ouch! Meanwhile, the Lakers hit their shots from all angles, inside, outside, but seemingly dominated in the paint.

Well this win disproves the ongoing argument that Kobe could not win a championship without Shaq...or is it "Superman"?

WTF! 18 Year Old Floridian Charged with Mutilation of Cats

Early Sunday, an 18 year old Florida teen was arrested and charged with mutilating and maiming the his neighbors' cats, according to the Associated Press.

Tyler Hayes Weinman, 18, was taken into custody at a party, police said.

According to the police, the string of incidents occured in two Miami area communities, in the Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay neighborhoods. Residents reported finding more than two dozen cats that were found skinned, missing fur, and appeared to have been lacerated with sharp objects.

I'm no Dr. Phil here, but this kid seems to have a serious behavioral/psychological problem and is in dire need of professional help, as even Stevie Wonder could see that this behavior is NOT normal. Imagine and he can still party after hearing the shrills and cries of another being? What about the parents, (whom reports suggest have not given a comment to date)? Did they do anything to help their son? Certainly these patterns of behavior are in no way isolated, and often the child has a history of exhibiting behaviors that are harmful and cruel to animals. Of course, Tyler is legally considerd an adult, and they are not responsible for his behavior (some might argue), but he's just 18.

I don't know what will become of this case, but wouldn't be poetic if part of Tyler's restitution is community service in which he has to work and care for animals in an animal shelter?

Michael Vic Released Again.... This time fom The Falcons

Micheal Vic's fall from grace continues. According to USA Today, the Atlanta Falcons have officially severed thier ties to troubled Quarter Back, Michael Vick. He too, it appears, will be entering this dreary job market, upon his reinstatement into the league. You may recall that Vick served a 19 month prison term, on a dog fighting conviction. This couldn't have come at a worse time for Vick, who it appears have squandered all his money on the wordly luxuries of life, and have since filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. This is the end of the Vick-Falcon era: the buzz and sell out games.

Man, this puts new meaning to old adage, its a "doggy dog world". Kids let this serve as a lesson learned: earn a dollar put away fifty cents, as you never know what the future holds. Oh and those nice clothes and shoes that you want so badly to impress upon your friends, they depreciate greatly the moment they are worn.

HIV Outbreak in the Adult Film Industry

It has been reported by L.A.health officials that 16 adult performers, one which was disclosed this week has recently tested positive for HIV. This information however was never released. The last known outbreak of such occurred back in 2004 in which 6 people were affected. This brings the total number of HIV cases in the industry to 22and counting. Yes we said it and counting. Even more disturbing, is the fact that the most recent infectee, a female porn actress first tested positive June 4, and worked the following day according to the LA Times.

Dr. Colin Hamblin, AIM's medical director. She worked the following day -- June 5 - for reasons Hamblin said are still being investigated. A second positive result came back June 6. And the clinic is awaiting results of a third and final confirmatory test, he said.

Did we mention the counting factor earlier? Well we hinted at that because reports suggest that this actress has relations with other partners since then, including her own boyfriend. You know what that means. Can someone say aah!!

Can someone explain to me why these "professionals" don't use condoms? Why not just use a glove to protect yourselves? They are engaging in scenes with people they don't even know. Maybe the industry needs to spend some of their mega dollars on sex education for their workers. Otherwise there will be no more employees to be had.

Cantu Suspect Has Yet to make a Plead

Talk about our tax $$ dollars going down the drain. In her four court proceedings, Melissa Huckaby, the former Sunday school teacher accused of kidnapping, raping and killing 8-year-old Sandra Cantu, still has to make a plea. While it has been reported than Huckaby has a history of mental illness, mainly depression, are there no one on her team or family competent to make a plea???!! Her court appointed attorney, Sam Behar has reported to have received over 1,000 pages of evidence, and therefore was not ready to make a plea. Without a plea, the case certainly can't proceed thru the justice system. So why even show up? Why not ask for the extra time necessary to become better prepared. This sounds more sensical to me, than wasting time and money. Heck if that's the case I should advertise as a self appointed public attorney, too. This is why I have always felt that lawyering is a necessary evil. Does it really take sifting through evidence to present a case. Whatever happened to our moral obligations? Interview your client. Did he/she admit to any wrongdoing? If so, there is your answer. Plead guilty. This is why I could never become a lawyer, particularly in criminal law, I don't know if I'd be able to sleep at night knowing that I was representing someone who was even remotely guilty.
